Community Impact Circle

Women’s Equity

The issues facing women today range from overt to subtle, childhood to old age. They cross race, marital status, motherhood, and more. If equity is about giving everyone what they need to thrive, then it is our duty to be more intentional, informed, and invested in women.

Through the Women’s Equity Community Impact Circle, we brought together budding and seasoned philanthropists who shared an interest in promoting women’s equity. Members were provided the space to travel their own path and challenged themselves and each other to seek a greater understanding of creative approaches to philanthropy while working to align their intentions with action.

This circle was a collaboration between the Brighton Jones Richer Life Foundation and Brighton Jones’ Women Living a Richer Life community and welcomed women and allies from across the country. If you would like to learn more about participating in future Women’s Equity Community Impact Circles, please reach out to us at philanthropy@brightonjones.com.

Framework

This circle began in March 2022 and met monthly throughout the course of a year.

Each member contributed $10,000 at the beginning of the cohort to be distributed to community organizations at their direction. In addition, there was a $500 education fee which funded group resources such as speaker fees and learning materials.

By the end of the cohort, members learned:

  1. The history of philanthropy and the systems that have created inequitable barriers for women and girls.

  2. How nonprofit organizations are working to promote equity for women and girls.

  3. How to create a philanthropic plan that reflects personal values while centering equity and justice.
